People often ask me why this sketch? Why such a ridiculous, extremely silly story?
Simple. I was living in the beautiful, dreamlike city of Prague, Czech Republic. On a few occasions I received customer service that was a bit abrasive. Just a bit. Coming from places where taking care of the customer is a priority, this was a funny shock. The grumpy waitstaff wasn't the norm, but when it did happen, it really was impressive and actually made me laugh.
So, I then thought what would be the most extreme, over-the-top service... and this sketch was born. Only later did I realize, it's kind of rip-off of an early SNL sketch, but I gave myself a break, because I added my own personal, slapstick touch.
For the record, none of the food sharing was faked. It all really happened; the water, soup and other goodies were all intimately transferred for the sake of realism. Maybe that makes it funnier. Or more gross. I think it lends truth to the sketch and makes it more enjoyable. Let me know what you think. Until then, I hope all your dining experiences have wonderful
